Most chat happens on IRC, and this hasn't been coordinated in a
particularly public way - a benefit/problem of having two people
involved in the release.

I'm not keen on the idea of changing the kernel (version) shipped in
the distribution. Providing an updated kernel as an optional install,
sure. Replacing the 'release kernel'? no.
