Out of curiousity, what did you find condescending about the above
statement?  I honestly can't see anything condescending in there, and I
was not at all intending to be condescending.

Hm.  I don't know that.  That's *one* purpose of protectionism, but I
thought that one of the other major purposes of protectionism was to
protect corporate profits and make more money for shareholders.
