I think on most countries private copies aren't an infringement.
Of course this doesn't apply on the UK, for instance, where format
shifting CDDA to, for instance, MP3 is an infringement.

And RIAA & Friends would surely like it to be an infringement worldwide,
preferably punished just as severely as killing people.
