A preexisting BSD "library" is a separate and independent computer
program work merely aggregated with OP's GPL computer program work
(another separate and independent computer program work under
copyright law -- see 17 USC 101 and AFC test case law). The GPL
doesn't apply to BSD "library", stupid.
