It should be noted that the EPO is not meaning "normal functions" as we
might understand it...

According to an EPO presentation given at various european patent
        * using less memory is patentable
        * being faster is patentable
        * not being idle is patentable[*]


[*] ok, this *last* one was a joke to see if you were awake, but in
practice, giving many of the software patents that were issued, it might
just as well
