   How is it under several different licences if it has to be under
   the GPL?

It has to be under the same _terms_ as the GPL.  This is a bit
different than saying the same license.  The mBSD license for example,
allows you to add terms, say the terms of the GPL to it.

   Or do you just mean that the version that *didn't* use GPL code was
   under another licence?

No, I did not mean this.
