If what you wrote is true, then it is surprising that companies like IBM,
RedHat, Novell, all capitalist to the core, are so keen on GPL-licensed
software.  A bit strange that there're raving libertarians (about as far
from socialists as you can get) who're so keen "to thrust socialism upon
a democratic majority".

Actually, if you're talking about the USA, forget about democracy.  What
you've got there is plutocracy, rule by the rich.  What makes you think
that "a democratic majority" positively wants this system?

Use your intlligence, if you've got one.  RMS saying he wants to see
proprietary software wiped out is like you saying you want Miss M.
Monroe on a blanket - it's a motivating fantasy, which everyone knows
will remain fantasy, but useful none the less.

The purpose of the GPL is propagate free software.  It has been very
successful at doing that.
