It is no secret that IBM treats [L]GPL'd code like a kind of toxic
waste, so to speak. The general rule is "seek for alternative".

>From IBM's FAQ regarding open source:

"The Level 1 List contains packages and components that can be reviewed
at Level 1 for product usage. All packages and components have
previously completed OSSC review and approval, including completion of
the legal Enhanced Pedigree Review (code scan, web investigation, and
project inquiry) and received appropriate business and legal approvals.
None of the packages and components on the Level 1 List are licensed
under the GPL."

"The Level 2 List contains packages that have previously completed OSSC
review and approval, including completion of the legal Enhanced Pedigree
Review (code scan, web investigation, and project inquiry) and
appropriate business and legal approvals. For products that plan to use
any of these open source packages, an OSSC proposal checklist must be
submitted and will be processed at Level 2. None of the packages on the
Level 2 List are licensed under the GPL."

(GNG is a derecursive recursive derecursion which pwns GNU since it can
be infinitely looped as GNGNGNGNG...NGNGNG... and can be said backwards
too, whereas GNU cannot.)
