For Christ's sake, IBM was the World's first viscous computer monopolist.Well, asshole's like you never see the obvious: of course it would've been in IBM's interests to have never released any source code at all.
At the time, after Micro$oft had wiped IBM's ass with their OS/2 dreams it made sense to make tons of money off the Freetards Linux services market. If you think IBM didn't learn the meaning of "embrace, extend and extinguish" from Micro$oft then you're a bigger Freetard moron than I thought. Ever since Linux latched on to IBM's teat with Sequent's SMP code contributions the "extinguish" handwriting has been on the wall. IBM will wipe your socialist Freetard asses with the GPL. Capitalism *always* wins. Sincerely, Rjack :)
