What is NYCCF?
New York City Community Fiber (NYCCF) is a grassroots non-profit
telecommunications initiative seeking to construct and maintain
community-owned optical networks in New York City.
It is the goal of NYCCF to construct optical networks in a manner that
is faster both in terms of service availability (time to deployment)
and network capacity (connectivity speeds) while at the same time
providing a significantly lower total cost of ownership (TCO) on a
10-20 year time frame.
In parallel with technical and financial modeling, NYCCF has been
actively reaching out to community-based academic and service-based
organizations. NYCCF has had discussions with=A0 CUNY, SUNY, NYSERnet,
the National Science Foundation, Manhattan College, NYIT, the New York
Public Library, Mount Hope Housing Company, Fordham University and
NYU, among many others, and invites all community-based organizations
to come out for an evening of business plan discussion and optical
network construction planning.
If this sounds of interest, we hope you'll join us=A0on September 9th.
