But he did sell them to buyers wanting to make use of the license, not
to internal redecorators wanting to make a sculpture from the CDs.

And the person actually selling the media to Vernor was the principal
defendent in this case.  Vernor was contributing to the license
infringement in his function as a reseller, so that put him in the case
as well.
