There's a link in stepmake directory like this:

address@hidden lilypond-1.4.0]$ ls -l stepmake/stepmake/stepmake
lrwxrwxrwx   1 lconrad  lconrad        13 May 10 10:28
stepmake/stepmake/stepmake -> .././stepmake/
address@hidden lilypond-1.4.0]$ ls -l stepmake/stepmake/stepmake/stepmake
lrwxrwxrwx   1 lconrad  lconrad        13 May 10 10:28
stepmake/stepmake/stepmake/stepmake -> .././stepmake/

and so forth. Is this correct? If so, is it necessary? It makes
backing up a directory with "tar -h" pretty difficult.
