They don't seem to collide here (1.5.1), but that's maybe because the
snippet is too small, it's set fairly wide.  Have you tried setting
word-space?

  \paper {
    \translator { 
      \ChordNamesContext
      ChordName \override #'word-space = #1 
    }
  }
