Can we get more information on your setup?

Operating System: 
Python: version and compiled/packages
wxWindows: version and compiled/packages
GNUe Install: version cvs/packages

Likely you executed a broken form.  The history stuff is well historical
and likely not maintained.  Try samples/intro/intro.gfd and left me know
what falls out.
