Hey everyone! I hope you've found your way around and are having fun
contributing to Free Software.

GNU Generation is constantly growing! As of today, there are 22 registered
participants and nine registered projects. The most active projects are "The
Block Chronicles" (being worked on by PatchMon and Ula) and GNU Hello (being
worked on by Deanmen). It would be great to see more people active on IRC
and this list, where you can more easily stay informed on other projects and
keep others informed about your project. Communication is the key to
successful Free Software projects.

As always, the biggest thing you can do to help GNU Generation, other than
contributing to Free Software through this program, is to bring more
participants and Free Software applications into GNU Generation. If you know
anyone interested, give them the link (http://fsf.org/gnugeneration) and/or
have them shoot me an email. (address@hidden) I'll be glad to clear up any
questions for new participants or Free Software projects.

A common question has been where to start, especially from those who would
prefer not to work on any of the existing projects. There are a couple of
different ways you can proceed:

1. Take a look on the brainstorming page
(http://groups.fsf.org/wiki/Group:GNU_Generation/Project_brainstorming) for
some ideas. There are some Free Software projects listed here with someone
to contact to help you get started on the right path.
2. Look for Free Software Apps that made projects for Google Summer of Code.
There are a huge number of these. Most of them even have step by step
instructions on how to start, and someone to contact to help you.
3. Are you already doing some development work for a Free Software app? You
can continue this development inside the GNU Generation program! Just create
a project describing what you are doing, and keep doing it!
4. If you have a great idea, create your own Free Software application or
service from scratch!
5. If there is another program you would like to contribute to, please don't
hesitate to figure out how to contribute to it! If you need some assistance,
email me (address@hidden) or this list (address@hidden), or join the IRC
channel (irc.freenode.net - #gnu_generation) for some help.

If you have any other questions, comments, concerns, or complaints, feel free
to ask.

Thank you all, and happy hacking!
