It seems GNU Go does not play particularly great moves if given a free handicap (doable either by passing or simply with repeated use of genmove_black via GTP).

The odd thing is, if a play a weak or terrible move (like A1, or something)
and then pass several times, GNU Go actually plays better moves than if I had passed all along. ie it plays better if there's at least one enemy stone on the board (except for the fact that it feels obliged to kill A1, for some reason).

I originally thought that correcting the problem could be done with the fuseki19.db, but since GNU Go can play quite well if there's at least one enemy stone on the board, I thought there must be a simpler solution involving the program itself.
