Thanks for using GNU Go and for the report.

That is quite complete and should help with finding the bug.

We will need to reproduce the issue and then find the errant code.

It looks like this is played through qGo.  Is this correct?  In your testing, are you loading and playing through qGo or directly with GNU Go?

Hello good GNU Go developers,

I get a segfault when playing C5 from the following SGF file (also attached):

Entering load segfault.sgf and then C5 causes GNU Go is thinking... to appear for a few seconds, then Segmentation fault.

This is GNU Go 3.8, as provided by apt install gnugo on the Linux Mint 17.3 repositories. (The repository lists it as 3.8-7, if that helps.) I'm running with standard settings: 19×19 board, handicap 0, no komi.

Playing the sequence Black C8, White B9, Black C5, White C3, Black B6 also causes a segmentation fault. So does Black B7, White C3, Black C5, White B6, Black B5. I hope GNU Go is not being a bad sport! :)

Happy to help if you're having trouble reproducing or anything. Let me know what I can do.

Best,
WC
