No, your are right, it is

        homephone

but even with that correction it returns an error, and the other 
correctly-mapped channels which do exist in the database return an error also.

It is also not explained by the lack of a value because when I have ensured to 
input one for Kirk in GNUmed, the tex table line

        & home phone $<patient_comm::'homephone'>$\\ 

results in the PDF in the following (screenshot):
