happens when two workplaces modify the active encounter of
one and the same patient (say, update the start/end time).

Unfortunately, you were running a stock release version

of the client when encountering the issue. I have added a
fair bit of advanced logging to the latest v1.8 code which
you can find in the Developers Section of the Installation
Guide
