I sent a mail about this yesterday, but it got dropped (sorry if anyone
gets it twice)
Horst has commented about the "chimera" of the window design, a fair
comment. PatientWindowManager (now ClinicalWindowManager) was written to
accomdate the "special requirements" of Richard's then new widgets, an
ordinary notebook was, presumably, is, not acceptable. Specifically the
need for a split-screen view, with side-widgets such as the
scratch-pad.
Nevertheless, a single system would be much better, witha single plugins
directory (ending the distinction between "patient" and "gui" plugins),
plugins would be named by a path ("Clinical/Obstetrics/Antenatal
Chart", for example) to form a hierarchy of cascading notebooks.
Split-screen would be used when a plugin on that screen requests it. (So
if you don't like it, don't request that plugin)
How does this sound?
