There's a "new" button in the demographics widget. It worked the last time I 
checked ;-)

The referrals writer will (soon!) be working. If you try to send a referral 
letter to an email, it will fire up 
a configurable mail client (kmail is my suggested choice as it's easy to use 
and has strong crypto)
