It is interesting that I examined the pages for disclaimers, as I
think it important to potential contributors that they feel protected
against liability. I found such a link only in small text, in the
footer. Then I realized the pink banner at the top was meant to also
serve that function. However I ignored it, believing it part of a
banner ad, and I wonder how many patients might do the same.
Therefore I would suggest:
- within the navigation bar, under Main page, insert Disclaimer
- in the Welcome section, after the first sentence --- after ... any
practitioner may edit. --- insert "Please read the [hyperlink:
disclaimer] before considering any health-related (or other) decision
based on any information here.
- consider whether by providing pages on how to obtain emergency
care, you are violating your own disclaimer that the information is
not to be used to make personal decisions. So I would consider
unlinking "emergency health care services"
- on the Disclaimer page, is it sufficient to state "We assume no
liability..." or should it state "We the operators and contributors
to the site"? I am just thinking that, without this stipulation, it
is not clear whose disclaimer it is.
With regard to the registration process, I am not sure how much
personal identifying information I would want to send, for example I
am not sure that I want to be sending about my LMCC number or copies
of my license. I would be comfortable sending a scanned version of a
hospital ID badge. As an adjunct, in Canada, the good standing of a
doctor can be determined from a College of Physicians from the
province or territory in which they work, for example the (so far
:-)) good standing of someone by my name can be determined at
https://www.cpsbc.ca/cps .
