Coding is only one part of software development, Liz.  

An experienced clinician such as yourself (familiar with 
different EHRs as well as hard copy medical records) knows 
the requirements for an EHR based on a doctor's work flow 
in the real world.  And it is these requirements that are 
the basis for the program (EHR). 

Beta testing, bug reporting, and writing documentation 
are other areas where your help would also be invaluable.  

None of this will be over your head  :-)
