We are not only talking "buy a terabyte disk". Think of bandwidth. Think of 
alternative storage (where a split across CD or DVD for certain things is very 
legitimate).

Text which is only 8K made into a PDF which is 80K is bad enough but if 
(avoidably) made into 240K PDF … this means a comprehensive export of a single 
patient, if it had 100 PDFs each averaging 2.5 pages means

        100 * 2.5 * 240K = 600Mb

this cannot be sent, encrypted, by email and even just incorporating the 
free-text-entered GNUmed notes *as* PDF could make it not fit onto a CD (though 
extra scripting / compression could very well make it possible).

So while I do not disagree with the order (i.e. I can agree 'buy a disk' 
remains first) there is IMO not a big separation between

        personal task 1

and

        project task 2
