One of the questions posed again and again was:

        Is there a web client, why a desktop application, what
        is the advantage of a rich client over a web app, ... ?

Actually, one of the people from the audience explained it
quite well when describing the problems they had with
smartcards:

        Web frontends are not particularly suitable for
        interfacing with local hardware beyond printers.
