Note also in the case of a course of treatment that was due to end between
visits, one cannot *know* whether the drug was indeed discontinued until one
confirms it at the first, or next, opportunity following said intended
discontinuation.
Since we already understand that
1) the patient might possess an additional supply
(it might even be an over the counter prep e.g. NSAID)
2) it may be possible that the patient obtained more from another MD
and that we do not input a value into the "discontinued" field until the first
subsequent opportunity, then in the case of a drug whose "Duration / Until"
- had been inputted, and
- has since expired
- and was not marked "Long term"
then there will always be a two part value shown,
x + y
e.g.
56 d + 14 d
where the first term (e.g. 56 d) reflects the "Intended duration (where known)"
and the second term (e.g. 14 d) reflects the time elapsed since the drug was
intended to have discontinued. In this circumstance, and assuming clinical
success, the drug would turn out to have been discontinued as planned, and in
editing the drug a click of "per plan" should input into "discontinued" the
"Duration / Until" date, and the display would then update to:
56 d (- 14 d)
however maybe the risk of this being misinterpreted as 42 days (56 - 14 = 42)
would it be better to be "Today minus 14 days, T - 14" as follows:
56 d (T -14d)
or
56 d (@ -14d)
