Good news; getting rid of that line definitely helped in this case. 
There were a couple of other tweaks necessary before things like the Now 
Serving page would work, but the streams themselves are fine. Thanks for 
the tip. Having tried that once before with no success I would probably 
never have tried it again.

The only problem now seems to be occasional bouts of time-outs that 
don't go away even when network traffic and/or server CPU load is 
minimised. They require the GNUMP3d server to be stopped and re-started. 
This MAY be due to other factors though (my cable provider has been 
doing maintenance recently so things like DNS are a bit unreliable) so 
I'll reserve comments until I've played a bit more.

I have to say I'm very impressed with this software. Until recently I 
was using a trial version of Media Jukebox to stream MP3s, and while 
that was very slick it did limit the presentation options for the 
archive. And, of course, it needed the proprietary software to be 
installed on the client machine.

On the other hand GNUMP3d is ideal and simple, requiring nothing more 
than a browser and media player. Kudos to Steve and everyone else 
involved in its creation.
