Follow-up Comment #2:

IMAP to IMAP uses server commands, so it is very different.
I attempted to copy a message from IMAP to local and it works fine.
If I attempt to copy two messages, the first one works, the second one gives a
panic alert that the folder is not existing and it is copied to the panic
folder intestead.
This is mysterious, I have no fix for that, it might be a reduced case of your
larger issue.
