Other areas are noted, including, fleetingly, library systems, but are not a main focus. Users tended not to turn to librarians for support in the search phase; they are most likely to ask for assistance in the retrieval phase. And responses to the idea of a 'people who borrowed this also borrowed that' type of service were positive.
The Flickr staging post puts the entry process closer to the user flow, as potential users may already be familiar with it, and it provides other relevent services.
This is their favored response.
What proportion of, say, Peoplesoft's revenues are accounted for by higher education? It has a strong family resemblance to YouTube, including the emphasis on ease of linking from and embedding in blogs and other sites.
It makes interesting reading, especially because it is unusual to read materials in this area which have such a self-conscious policy, rather than technical, focus.
to get back to the main point, my answer at the time can be summed up pretty simply.

The academic library community does not have non commercial alternatives in a similar way.
But, of course, these are directions in which we plan to go, integrating 'find it' services with 'get it' services across multiple independently managed systems.
The project page is hosted at Ithaka: will it also host an Organization for Open Source Software as discussed in the report? dk to any great degree during the selection process'.
Congratulations Ross . He raises other interesting topics and this discussion is a part of a projected series of posts which will be well worth following. This is done for purposes of searching, browsing, discovery, translation, mapping, semantic reasoning, subject indexing and classification, harvesting, alerting etc. This is not to say that it is easy to find these numbers, but it would be interesting context.
These are wide-ranging and it is instructive to see what they think is important or advisable.
Does this mean no libraries have these books? How does spend break down across administration, learning management, library, and so on?
There was a desire to see abstracts and tables of contents. There are three key strategies for finding resources: colleagues' recommendations, chaining from bibliographies and citations; and search engines and other web resources. Overall, one could imagine how it could be more specialized to the needs of those interested in this topic and how the various services presented could be more integrated. Tagging and comments are supported as one would expect.

It makes interesting reading, especially because it is unusual to read materials in this area which have such a self-conscious policy, rather than technical, focus. In some cases it was not clear to them what staff had to offer, or they did not want to disturb staff who were sitting at workstations.
The report notes that users do not use 'library staff, the local library catalog, or bibliotek.
