This instantly baffles me on Solaris 10 :

configure: error: no working 'grep' found

On my Solaris 10 box, it says:

checking for grep that handles long lines and -e... /usr/xpg4/bin/grep
checking for egrep... /usr/xpg4/bin/grep -E

My PATH is '/usr/bin:/usr/ccs/bin:/r/share1/src/developerstudio12.6/bin'; 'configure' automatically looks in /usr/xpg4/bin if none of the grep's found in the PATH suffice. /usr/bin/grep does not suffice.
