Hi Ralph!

Hi Branden,

The suffixes(7) page, which I've managed to never see in 25 years as a

Me neither.

Me neither. I just found it because in the PDF it was next to standards(7), IIRC. :)

         .text │ text file
         .txt │ equivalent to .text

I don't recall seeing .text used as it's the default on Unix.
.txt is an import from foreign lands.

I sometimes use .txt for some notes or ASCII art, just to remind myself when I see the file months or years after that it's just text, as opposed to for example a script, for which I don't use extensions. Directory organization would be more useful, but we all know that when you write something fast such as text notes, you don't always follow the best organization...

     BUGS
        This list is not exhaustive.

Just delete the page and anything that refers to it. Bug fixed.
Either the user has the Internet, which is exhaustive, or they're savvy
enough to use a system without the Internet and don't need suffixes(7).

But now that I know it, it's an interesting thing to know. Web search engines sometimes (more often than not) disappoint me; especially those that don't track me. Having the page around can be useful. I'll try to update with whatever new extension I meet and is not documented.

Cheers,

Alex
