addendum: this causes a crash, since gc.c says
scm_c_hook_run (&scm_after_gc_c_hook, 0);
--scm_gc_running_p;
is there any significance in the ordering here? The problem
is that many scm_after_gc_c_hooks construct lists, which uses
scm_cell, obviously.
