newsletter reviews useful Web sites from the Web Resources database at FITA's International Trade/ Import-Export Portal at http://fita.org, an
excellent source for trade leads, news, events, and a link
library of 4,000+ sites related to international trade.

My name is John McDonnell, and for years I wrote a weekly e-
newsletter that profiled business-oriented Web sites. Now I'm
using my Web research skills to find sites that are useful for
international trade, as well as some fun sites that you'll enjoy
visiting.

MEDICS ABROAD
http://www.geocities.com/medicsabroad
I decided early on that a career in medicine was not for me. It
probably had something to do with the fact that I fainted at the
sight of blood (actually, even ketchup gave me a queasy stomach).
But if you're a doctor or want to be one, you'll find lots of
useful information at Medics Abroad at www.geocities.com/medicsabroad. This site has links to
worldwide medical news, schools, organizations, jobs, online
learning, dictionaries, and more. And it's not just for doctors
-- there are links to medical search engines, where you can look
for the latest information on diseases, ailments, procedures, and
other health matters.

CALCULATORS AND CONVERTERS
http://www.library.wwu.edu/ref/Refhome/r...
Do you wonder sometimes if the relationship you're in has any
future? Well, now there's a way you can find out what your
chances are of years of bliss together or a breakup next week. At
The Love Calculator at www.lovecalculator.com you can
get the inside scoop on whether your relationship is doomed or
blessed. It's all in fun, of course, and you wouldn't want to
make any important decisions based on this calculator, but there
are plenty of other Web sites where you can get accurate answers
to important questions. You'll find a list of them atOnline Calculators, Conversion Tools, Measurements & Weights at www.library.wwu.edu/ref/Refhome/refmeasure.htm. This
site has links to hundreds of places where you can calculate
exchange rates, time differences, weights, and lots of other
values.

LOOKING EAST
http://www.ucis.pitt.edu/reesweb
If you have a business or personal interest in Russia or Eastern
Europe, you should check out the University of Pittsburgh's
REESWeb at www.ucis.pitt.edu/reesweb. This site has a
treasure trove of information about this fast-changing area of
the world. You can do a keyword search, or browse the list of
topics, and there is so much here you'll certainly find some
useful links. For example, I found a great list of business
sources at www.ucis.pitt.edu/scgi-bin/rees/rees2000/step2.pl. The
countries represented range from Albania to Uzbekistan.

AND FARTHER EAST
http://newton.uor.edu/Departments&Progra...
Another site with good regional coverage is the University of
Redlands East Asia and Southeast Asia Directories at newton.uor.edu/Departments&Programs/AsianStudiesDept.
This site has directories of information that you can click on to
focus your search ever more narrowly. You'll find plenty of
useful information about politics, culture, environment, history,
economy, society, and more in countries ranging from Brunei to
Vietnam.
