UKRAINE -- OUR FEATURED COUNTRY SITE
EUROPE DAILY
SEATGURU.COM
FOREIGN ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Hello international traders! Ukraine used to be called "the breadbasket of the
Soviet Union". These days it's a thriving country with great opportunities for
trade, and I found a site that will help you get familiar with it fast. Also,
if you have business in Europe, I have a great site for you, with daily news
and headlines. Airline travelers will love SeatGuru.com, the site I found that
shows you airplane diagrams and gives information about seating. Finally, I
have a site that U.S. citizens should visit before they go abroad, because it
has a list of every country's entry requirements.
If you'd like more information about international trade, go to FITA's
International Trade/ Import-Export Portal <http://fita.org> ( http://fita.org
), an excellent source for trade leads, news, events, and a link library of
7,000 sites related to international trade.

UKRAINE -- OUR FEATURED COUNTRY SITE
http://menic.utexas.edu/reenic/countries/ukraine.html

During the heyday of the Soviet Union, Ukraine was the most important region,
economically. It produced four times the output of the next-ranking republic,
and its farms accounted for one- fourth of the entire USSR agricultural output.
When the USSR broke up, Ukraine struggled with the many changes that came as a
result of independence, but the country seems to be adjusting well now --
exports were a solid $18 billion in 2002, while imports were also $18 billion.
If you'd like to learn more about opportunities for trade with Ukraine, go to
the Ukraine page at REENIC
<http://menic.utexas.edu/reenic/countries/ukraine.html> (
http://menic.utexas.edu/reenic/countries/ukraine.html ). This is a site at the
University of Texas at Austin, and it's chock-full of useful information.
You'll find links to Ukrainian associations, government agencies, statistics,
trade leads, maps, hotel and transportation information, news, political
reports, country profiles, market reports, and much more.
There are many more links to Ukraine at the FITA site. Go to FITA's
International Trade Web Resources <http://fita.org/webindex/index.html> at
http://fita.org/webindex/index.html, click on Regional Resources then go to
Europe and click on Ukraine in the drop-down box. Or simply type "Ukraine" in
the search box at http://www.fita.org <http://fita.org/>. Doing Business in the
Ukraine <http://fita.org/marketplace/product.php?asin=0749424613> and
Succeeding in Business in Central and Eastern Europe, A Guide to Cultures,
Markets, and Practices
<http://fita.org/marketplace/product.php?asin=0877193800%20> are great books on
trade with Ukraine in the FITA Global Trade Bookstore
<http://fita.org/marketplace/eurobooks.php>.

EUROPE DAILY
http://www.europedaily.com

One of the things I love about the Web is how it gives me so many ways to keep
up with the day's headlines. For example, if I want to find out what's
happening in Brussels, Berlin, or Budapest, I can go to Europe Daily
<http://www.europedaily.com/> ( http://www.europedaily.com/ ). This is a
gateway to all the news affecting the continent of Europe, and it's got
headlines and in-depth stories right at your fingertips. Use the directory in
the left column to focus on news by region (East Europe, Central Europe, etc.),
or topic (Business, Politics, Sport, etc.). If you need to keep up with what's
happening in Europe, this is the site for you.

SEATGURU.COM
http://seatguru.com

I've never taken one of those marathon flights from the U.S. to Australia, but
if I ever do I'll check SeatGuru.com <http://seatguru.com/> (
http://seatguru.com ) first. This handy site has information about the seating
on various U.S. and international airlines. You can find out if your seat
reclines, where it's located in the airplane, whether it has extra legroom, and
if it has floor storage space, among other things. You just move your mouse
over a diagram of the plane, and SeatGuru.com will show you the information.
Besides seat information, this site will tell you what kind of in-flight
amenities are available.

FOREIGN ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
http://travel.state.gov/foreignentryreqs.html

It's a good idea, if you're a U.S. citizen who's planning a trip abroad, to
visit Foreign Entry Requirements
<http://travel.state.gov/foreignentryreqs.html> (
http://travel.state.gov/foreignentryreqs.html ). This State Department site
gives vital information about the entry requirements of various countries. You
may not know, for example, that many countries require you to have an
onward/return ticket before they'll let you enter. In addition, some countries
require you to show a certificate of yellow fever vaccination, or even proof
that you tested negative for AIDS. You don't want to arrive at a country and be
denied entry because of some detail you didn't know about, so visit this site
before you go!
