guile in embedded systems

Several years ago I took a stab at porting guile to VxWorks.  I gave
up after several hours of trying to pull out references to systems
calls not supported in vxworks (e.g., getpwent() is not in VxWorks).

Has there ever been talk/interest in getting this working?  One
approach would be to have versions of guile that support the different
levels of the EL/IX "standard" as described at
