What version of Guile did you use?
There is some stuff for IA64 in 1.5.x while 1.4 will probably not work.
You can get 1.5.6 from
ftp://alpha.gnu.org/gnu/guile/
Also, there are snapshots of both development series in
ftp://ftp.dt.e-technik.uni-dortmund.de/pub/guile/snapshots/
