GNU Foliot 0.9.6-alpha released

From: David Pirotte
Subject: GNU Foliot 0.9.6-alpha released
Date: Tue, 8 Mar 2016 23:02:17 -0300

Hello,

GNU Foliot version 0.9.6-alpha is released.

        Special Note:

        Before GNU Foliot became a GNU package, it was named Kisê. The change of
        name has implied thousands of source code, manual and web-pages changes.

        The application is quite robust, with respect to the implemented
        functionality as in version 0.9.5, but the huge quantity of source code
        changes is, in itlself, error prone, hence an alpha release.

        Obviously, we strongly recommend you make a backup of your
        database(s), if you were a Kisê user, you can never be too prudent!

        Notes:

        -] gnu/foliot ftp directory and and ftp-upload authorization
request
                are under work, hence the above links, in the mean time;

        -] Downloads will redirect to your nearest mirror site. Files on
                mirrors may be subject to a replication delay of up to 24
hours. In
                case of problems use

* About GNU Foliot

GNU Foliot is a small and easy to use time keeping application.

It can be used in a single user mode or by small organizations. Starting with
version 0.9.4, it can import other user's database, an essential feature for
remote
collaborators.

The fields it handles are: a date, who, for whom, what, a duration, whether or
not
to be charged and a description.

It includes, on the main application screen, a powerful dynamic filters criteria
mechanism, which lets you visualize, work on and print a subset of your time
keeping
entries.

A printing templates system allows you to (pre)define, reuse and hence quickly
generate the pdf files and/or printed reports of your needs.

A version which will let users export an active filter based subset of their
time
keeping entries is under work.

* Changes since 0.9.5

Here is a summary of the changes since version 0.9.5. See GNU Foliot's git
summary
[1] and git log [2] for a complete description:

Core

        -] known bugs have been fixed, see org/foliot-bugs.org if your are
        interested;

        -] automatic schema migration from kise -> foliot has been implemented;
        opening and re-importing dabatase(s) always trigger a schema check and
        upgrade automatically if necessary.

        Because of the above, we strongly recommend you make a backup of your
        database(s), if you were a Kisê user of course: you can never be too
prudent!

GUI

        -] list-store duration now rendered as text: this is to paliate a gtk2
list
        store spin button rendering bug.

Documentation

Note that the documentation still is a mock-up, but:

        -] all reviewed for the new name of course, and sync with web-pages with
        repect to dependencies and installation procedure.

Web-Pages

        -] GNU Foliot's web-pages have been entirely rewritten using sxml.

* This release was built/tested using the following tools:

        -] autoconf                  (GNU Autoconf) 2.69
        -] automake                (GNU automake) 1.15
        -] makeinfo                 (GNU texinfo) 6.1
        -] guile-2.0                  2.0.11.170-4d08e
        -] guile-gnome            2.16.4
        -] SQLite                     3.10.2
        -] libpcre                      2:8.38-1 (Debian)
        -] Grip                         0.1.1
        -] Grip                         0.1.1
        -] Grip                         0.1.1
        -] LaTex TeX Live 2015 (Debian)

[*] Use a .sig file to verify that the corresponding file (without
        the .sig suffix) is intact. First, be sure to download both the
.sig
        file and the corresponding tarball. Then, run a command like this:

                gpg --verify foliot-0.9.6-alpha.tar.gz.sig

        If that command fails because you don't have the required public key,
        then run this command to import it:

                gpg --keyserver keys.gnupg.net --recv-keys A3057AD7

        and rerun the 'gpg --verify' command.
