A bit more work, but couldn't you do:
import:
redhat::
redhatclassstuff.conf
<redhatclassstuff.conf>
classes:
vimRPMinstalled = ( ReturnsZero(/bin/rpm -q --quiet
vim-enhanced) )
This should satisfy the first requirement:
