In my case the reasons are:
1) To take advantage of the output reporting stuff. No point in reinventing
wheels.
2) Because my schedule expressions are fairly complicated; different types of
machines run at different frequencies at different times of days, and while
that can be done with cron it would be a PITA to maintain. Much easier to
just say "server.!production.chicago_officee.!weekend.!holiday::
schedule=(whatever)...
3) Quis custodiet ipsos custodes? I have crond watching cfexecd and cfengine
watching crond. Crond is pretty bulletproof, but the consequences of a dead
crond are quite frightening.
