Jason,
Can you tell me what I have to do to print to an IP printer which does
support postscript. I read Andrews' note, but didn't see any references to
IP addresses.

You have been misled. It is unnecessary, and apparently problematic.
Andrew Innes put a lot of effort in to make sure that printing works
as best it can out of the box on Windows and DOS. Perhaps print-NT.el
predates that effort, in which case I am surprised it still works at all.
