Hi Bill,
Yes, I knew it wouldn't be that easy...my stupid ISP allows outside news
group access (like from work) but through an SSL/NNTP server...
I was hoping somebody would've already figured things out under NT and had
it working!....I went through some of the initial steps...(I already had
ssl.el since I have W3)....even then I figure it might be dog slow running
SSL...

{Warning, this is not simple(TM) }.
There are some instructions on doing this. I was running it on Linux,
and managed to set it up on a Netscape SSL/NNTP server. This was 20.x
emacs on Linux. Once I got to the group, it was a bunch of crap and
then I never used it again. Try this link for more,
"http://groups.google.com/groups?q=ssl+nntp+group:gnu.emacs.gnus"
OpenSSL can build on NT. However, getting Emacs to use the
DLL/library might be a problem. As I remember, you needed to install
W3 to get this working. I may have hack some sort of elisp file that
only did the SSL connection to avoid installing W3. [Although William
Perry and other have done a good job!]

Bill Pringlemeir.
