Hi,
I have the following problem. I use emacs
(v21.x) together with AUCTeX and MikTeX on my laptop computer and on my PC.
Everything used to work fine until, from one
day to the other, I was no longer able to start a latex shell from within
emacs (on my PC). The message buffer says:
Loading shell...done
apply: Searching for program: no such file or directory, v4.80.1 [I get the same message with M-x
shell]
On my laptop, I did not get this message (the
setting worked fine) until I logged on to our company LAN. After this,
I got the same problem. This was on
WinNT. After a while, I got WIN2000 on my PC and I still face exactly
the same problem.
For me as a non-expert this looks like
the problem is related to our company network (and not to the
operating system). I suspect that the administrators updated some file or
changed some security settings or installed a new anti-virus software.
Actually, disabling the anti-virus software doesn't help and the network
admins are of no help either because they claim that they did not change
anything.
Does anyone of you have a hint about what the
problem is? What is v4.80.1? I am slightly confused.
I appreciate your help. Thank you,
Helmut |
