hi,

I am using GNU Emacs 21.1 on Windows ME:

In GNU Emacs 21.1.1 (i386-msvc-windows98.3000)
 of 2001-10-22 on buffy
configured using `configure --with-msvc (12.00)'
Important settings:
  value of $LC_ALL: nil
  value of $LC_COLLATE: nil
  value of $LC_CTYPE: nil
  value of $LC_MESSAGES: nil
  value of $LC_MONETARY: nil
  value of $LC_NUMERIC: nil
  value of $LC_TIME: nil
  value of $LANG: deu
  locale-coding-system: iso-latin-1
  default-enable-multibyte-characters: t
(but I recently upgraded to 21.2 and the problem is still there)

when I start Gnus 5.9.0 (part of Emacs 21) via M-x gnus or M-x
gnus-no-server, Emacs hangs (nothing reacts, and only the menu-bar redraws
itself; I can't stop Gnus via C-g).
The news server works fine (I am just using it with another News-client)

my .gnus only contains this:
(setq gnus-select-method '(nntp "news.t-online.de"))
the only Gnus relevant lines of .emacs are these:
(setq user-mail-address "address@hidden")
(setq user-full-name "Felix Natter")

How can I debug this ?

please cc replies to address@hidden, I am not subscribed to this list.

thanks,
