If you have the cygwin (development) environment installed then you can download ispell from any GNU mirror site and compile it. You need to "customise" the local.h file and I have a Makefile in my archives that I have to use also - I can't remember why, I think there is a bug in the one supplied :-)

I have attached the two files. Note that you will have to edit and "customise" local.h for your own directory paths. Also, I use the British dictionary, so that too may require some changes :-)

I keep these two files in a separate location because I end up re-imaging my Windoze disk every so often and having to re-install ispell - I recommend something similar once you have customised them for your environment :-).

Regards,
Peter

Currently, the FAQ contains the following entry:

How do I perform spell checks, using Ispell?
Ispell version 3 is the latest official supported version of the
ispell package for Windows.
Ispeel 3.1 has support for multiple languages, and may be used in
flyspell-mode.
The Cygnus port of ispell 3.1 works well with Emacs and the flyspell
package. [Details]

The link for details goes to:

http://www.gnu.org/software/emacs/windows/ntemacs/discuss/ispell31-cygwin
Which gives some now-invalid URLs to get the various packages.

Since the Detailed instructions are 3 years old and the URLs are invalid, I
assume that there's a better way to get ispell for Win32 at this time?

Where could I find this information and could whomsoever update the FAQ?

Thanks for any pointers!
