[h-e-w] Trouble with Subprocess under NT 5 (win2k)

GNU emacs seems to have problems with subprocesses. Especially the
python debugger (gud) refuses to work under emacs (it works better
when started from a emacs shell buffer). What happens is that emacs
seems to loose contact with the streams of the program (pdb) and input
written to the debugger process window appears to have no effect (I
don't see any output). Is this a known problem? Are there plans to
rectify it? I really enjoy using emacs, but as for now, I am forced to
use cmd.exe (the NT shell) for a lot more than I would otherwise.

If it helps XEmacs doesn't seem to have
this problem in quite the same degree.
