On the WinTel platform, Ctrl-Q Ctrl-J would represent CR/LF.

I, too, am happy that the list has returned.

It's not a big problem. I hope this helps you calm down.

You have to insert literal carriage return and line feed characters into
the string. Try C-q C-m and C-q C-j

I am happy to see this list in operation again.

At the risk of boring everyone, I raise an old problem. I want to do a
global search and replace where the replacement text includes a CR/LF (I

am using a PC). I know how to do the search and replace. It is the
CR/LF that puzzles me.

What angers me is that I used to know how to do this, but I have
forgotten.

This really should be answered in the FAQ, but I could not find it
there.

John
