Wow, that wasn't to bad. It actually ran quite smoothly when I
removed the ^M's.
  
The best way to remove the extra ^Ms is to "cvs update -kb" in the nt subdirectory (or just the files that require it). This checks the directory out as binary, and the files appear unmodified to CVS. If you remove them manually you are likely to get conflicts when someone updates the version in the repository.

The reason for this problem is that those files need DOS line ends when the release tarball is made.
