I really like emacs being independent of the registry. - I can easily replicate my setup on multiple Windows machines.- I can move settings between multiple OSes, even those that don't have a registry.
- I can share settings on my dual boot Windows/Linux machine.It's hard for me to imagine anyone skilled enough to use emacs that doesn't know how to create a shortcut in a Windows menu or taskbar.
