If I don't misunderstand your wish, you can do it using the
following command in the summary buffer.
`C-c C-s C-d' or `M-x gnus-summary-sort-by-date RET'
If you want to sort articles in reverse order, use the prefix
argument as `C-u C-c C-s C-d'. It may be better to turn off the
threading by `C-M-t' or `M-x gnus-summary-toggle-threads RET'.
