In the inferior ruby buffer, check the values of the comint-scroll-*
variables. Assuming you want to set comint-scroll-to-bottom-on-input:
(add-hook 'inferior-ruby-mode-hook
(lambda () (setq comint-scroll-to-bottom-on-input 'this)))
